Horrible, probably the works Star Trek show ever. After season 2 there no real story. Nothing more than background noise. You don't really care of anyone lives or dies. You don't even care if the ship blows up or is catapulted. There to much feelings and talk about emotions even in a crises they try squeeze in some emotional empathy. It's a action show not supposed to be a drama. Star Trek is a show about mystery exploration and war. Not who loves who. Or who's crying over there past. And why save a planets just to blow them up 5 episodes or so later. So dumb.

Don't believe the gatekeeping haters. People have raged about every Star Trek series not being "Star Trek" enough. Even Next Gen had "fans" crying about how it ruined Roddenbery's creation. The truth is, this is Star Trek in every way. It challenges our current social assumptions and gets us to imagine a more idealised, futuristic society. It involves a new form of technology that seems like it's more fantasy than science. It has characters existing and performing actions that challenge and offend conservative ideals - just as Kirk did when he had the first multi-racial kiss on television. And it does all this while up-lifiting the politics and intrigue of the story to meet modern standards.

This show is absolutely amazing! Don't trust the negative reviews; it's genuinely a great series with a really satisfying ending. While Season 1 may feel a bit lackluster because the main character can be annoying and the plot of the war, the series really picks up after that and becomes fantastic. Season 2 was amazing it's my favorite! I loved the mystery, the plot twist, and the ending I genuinely did not expect that! Oh my gosh!

A complete abomination. Somebody wake me up when they give the reins to someone who loves the IP.

Garbage tier woke lady trek - absolutely abysmal rewriting of trek law with the ultimate marry sue who cries in every episode for reasons - the show so bad they retconned it so it's not part of the main Star Trek universe anymore. 1 star only for set design and special effects, although the money and effort wasted on this trash is unjustifiable.

Star Trek Discovery is a great start to a new Golden Age of Star Trek! Such a awesome wild ride of adventure! :-)

🖖🏼💩🚽Star trek is pretty easy to sum up. The federation is a group of planets who relentlessly push for everything a human would consider good. Over time they learned rules that limit captains abilities to do the right thing certain times. The second part of star trek is captains. These are people who Star Fleet put in charge of ships because they recognize inside them a core set of values that aligns with that core fibre of Star Fleet. These captains can be flawed in how they act but not in their core in this regard. Star Fleet expect a cpatain to break the rules if it is in the best interest of what we would call humanity. Any other reason to break the rules is not acceptable to me as a viewer. This show has neither a proper Star Fleet nor a proper Star Fleet captain. This makes it a real drain to watch even if it does introduce interesting stuff. In next generation this concept was shown off, with Riker being second in command for a long long time. Star Fleet thinks he will make a fine captain, so does Picard but he himself knows hes not ready. He spends a lot of time learning not how to "fly a space ship" but from picard someone he believes is the greatest captain, and he learns how to, and when to make the hard calls, and to trust the part inside him that often agrees with picard. When he ends up taking the captain seat in episodes hes an amazing captain. Even when Data a robot takes his first captain seat, he has to push for it. Picard thinks hes ready long before he pushes for it, but pushing for it is part of being a captain. He takes control of a ship, disobeys a direct order for what he believes is the best interest of the whole of the federation. He puts himself and all his crew at risk, and it pays off, he was right. His decision is praised by everyone, and you the viewer are left with a nice feeling "Data gets it, he finally understands what it means" I bring this up because discovery breaks the rules for all the wrong reasons. Star trek has always been one of the most diverse shows, progressive shows and always tackled social justice themes. But its always done that wrapped in its core. The core is that what allows them to show you there can be good on both sides of a question. I will never know if this show finally pulls it all together because I never got to finish it, it got too far off what was acceptable that I dropped it. If this is a sign of a bold new direction for star trek, then i guess I wont be going on that exploration with them.

If you’re a Star Trek fan, skip this dreck. It’s better than Strange New Worlds but that like trying to decide what bucket of festering filth is the least stinky.
