Private detective Lobster is a grumpy guy who only gets out of bed to do his job when absolutely necessary. Then he investigates with unusual methods in cases that do not concern the police or overwhelm them. Ellen is Lobster's daughter, Commissioner Korn is his contact at the police force. Geißendörfer, who later invented Lindenstraße, had the idea for the series and directed all the episodes. He named his hero the English word for lobster because he wanted to allude to its hard shell and soft core. A drawn lobster was always shown in the opening credits. Peter Berneis and Karl Heinz Willschrei wrote almost all of the books.
