The overall quality is a masterpiece, as one would expect from MAPPA. There is nothing to complain about here, as shown in the category ratings above. Aside from the points regarding the ending (which I obviously don't know yet and therefore can't rate), it gets a full 5 stars in every category. So, the decision is purely personal. Do I see that final spark in this anime that justifies 5 stars—what I like to call the "hype factor"? Yes and no. And that’s where my problem lies. Unfortunately, the first season didn't hook me (regardless of the checklist), except for an episode here and there. I actually didn't understand the hype back then. The second season was significantly better, and the third was just nuts. If I were rating only the third season, I’d give it 5 stars without hesitation—and with that thought, I’ve (just now) found my rating 😋: I’m giving it 4.5 stars and waiting for the ending; if the upcoming seasons get me just as hyped, that will be reflected in the rating here.
- RobbieF7772026年3月19日Overall Score: 6/10 Season 1: 8/10 Season 2: 5/10 Season 3: 5/10 Jujutsu Kaisen is a fascinating example of a show that starts with incredible momentum only to lose its way as the series progresses. Season 1 was a blast, it felt like a fresh, high-energy take on the shonen genre with enough mystery and style to keep me fully invested. I walked in expecting a new top-tier staple, and for a while, it delivered. However, after finishing the third season, I can't in good conscience keep my initial higher ratings. The drop-off in quality has been staggering. It started so strong, but the pacing and narrative focus have devolved to the point where I'm left wondering, how did we get to this? It feels significantly overhyped by the wider community, and the actual substance just doesn't match the noise. If you do dive into this series, be prepared for some mixed results with the English dub. For me, Gojo and Sukuna were the absolute saving graces of the dubbed cast and the only two characters that really held my interest. The rest of the dub felt lacking, and while the Japanese subbed version seems to have higher-quality voice acting from what I've seen, switching to subbed isn't a great alternative if, like me, you simply prefer watching your anime dubbed. I know this take is considered absolute "blasphemy" in the anime community, so feel free to ignore me if you're an active part of that crowd. But watching a series decline from a stellar 8/10 to a mediocre 5/10 has been a frustrating ride. If you’re looking for a consistently great story, you might find yourself just as disappointed as I was.
- Tiffie Starchild2025年6月30日Okay, full transparency: JJK looked dope but not really *for me* - I’m much more of a slice-of-life or magical girl anime type, I know my lane! But then at DreamCon earlier this month I finally saw some Oh My Senpai merch in person (after loving the brand for years) and they have these cute cute cute velour sets with JJK character names written on the booty and faaaam - I kinda need them 🥹 but I also feel like I should AT LEAST be somewhat familiar with the show before I start rocking the names on my butt! So here we are. I’m only like 8 episodes in but I see the appeal! NGL I’m VERY confused about what’s going on so far but the animation is dope and I love the blend of the stakes being super high but the characters still having goofy parts to their personalities. Off rip I would say that I’m a Gojo girl (I hope I don’t end up regretting this) but the villain apologist in me kinda really likes Sukuna (I REALLY hope I don’t regret this 😅)?! I know that sometimes shows take a while to build up and really get you hooked, but I typically tap out around episode 4 if I’m not feeling something. I think I’m in for the long haul with this one! I’ll def keep y’all updated when I get further along both here on Plex and through videos on my socials 🥰💕
