カナダのトロントから米国シカゴを目指していた完全自動運転の高速列車が脱線事故を起こし、乗員乗客60名以上が犠牲に。ケンドラは米国のFTSA（連邦運輸安全局）の要請を受け、主任調査官としてチームを率いる。調査を進めるなかで、事故が故意に起こされた可能性が浮上する。
