Simone Borrelli is an Italian director, actor, singer‑songwriter, and musician. He has worked for Rai, Mediaset, and Sky Cinema, and is the winner of several international awards. He has been a guest at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, and Stanford University.
His film Eddy represents the first documented case in world cinema of a single artist simultaneously holding 8 creative roles: director, screenwriter, lead actor, composer, arranger, instrumental performer, lyricist, and vocalist of the entire original soundtrack.
The film was declared Official Human Rights Movie 2015 by the Council of Europe, opened the European Film Festival at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood (selected by the American Cinematheque), and is one of the few Italian films directly supported by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy for its international artistic, social, and cultural relevance. Borrelli was invited to open the 60th anniversary of Italy’s membership in the United Nations, and his work has been supported by Amnesty International, UNICEF, and the Italian Red Cross.
The Eddy Tour spanned nearly 90 dates, including 11 sold‑out shows and approximately 200,000 spectators, featuring live orchestral performances of the soundtrack. The film has been translated into 10 languages.
His single L’Amor, released with Universal Music Italia, is the first documented music video in history made entirely from original, artist‑created GIFs and stickers, with no traditional footage. On the Giphy platform, it has accumulated over 400 million views – making Simone Borrelli the most‑viewed verified Italian solo artist on Giphy.
