- LivewireAdmin2026年2月3日Quantum of Solace might be one of the most misunderstood entries in the entire Bond franchise, and I’ve always had a soft spot for it. A lot of critics and fans seemed thrown off by how angry and relentless Craig’s Bond is here, as if the tonal shift arrived without warning. But the movie literally begins minutes after the emotional wreckage of Casino Royale—what exactly did people expect? Bond hasn’t had a chance to grieve, or even breathe. Of course he’s violent, frayed, and channeling everything he can’t process into his work. If anything, it feels like the most honest continuation we’ve ever gotten between two Bond films. And yes, the action is faster, sharper, and delivered with that Bourne-inspired shaky cam, but I’ve never found it incoherent. The editing swings hard, but the geography of each sequence is clear, and there’s a visceral punch to the way Marc Forster shoots these moments. In one film, we get a car chase, a boat chase, and a plane chase—some people complain about the pacing, but show me another Bond entry that checks that many boxes and still moves this efficiently. For a movie that clocks in as the shortest Bond film ever, it leaves a surprising number of images burned into my memory. The score is another reason this one hits so high for me. David Arnold’s fifth Bond soundtrack might actually be his finest. Music is always something I pay attention to, and the textures, motifs, and rhythmic tension here elevate the entire experience. Even the title song—with all the hate it gets—works for me. Jack White and Alicia Keys gave us the first duet in Bond history, and the title sequence visuals are gorgeous. The supporting cast is quietly one of the strongest of Craig’s run. Judi Dench is completely dialed in as M, both exasperated with Bond and worried for him in equal measure. Mathieu Amalric gives Dominic Greene an unsettling physicality without needing theatrical menace; he’s not threatening the entire world, just reshaping resources and governments to his advantage, and that grounded villainy fits the reboot era perfectly. Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko both make lasting impressions, but it’s Camille who stands out. I love that she and Bond never move into romance—they’re two wounded people on parallel revenge paths, respecting each other’s missions without needing to derail them. And Jeffrey Wright’s Felix, demoted and sulking through CIA politics, popping up at just the right moments to nudge Bond forward, is an excellent touch. Set-piece wise, this film is stacked. The opening chase is a jolt of adrenaline. The boat sequence is ferocious. The Tosca opera meeting is one of the most stylish scenes in the entire franchise—Bond exposing an entire arena of conspirators without firing a shot is the kind of clever, confident flex that makes Craig’s era shine. The desert-hotel finale, with its glass and steel igniting around the characters, feels unlike any other Bond climax. And the closing confrontation in the snowy Russian winter is the last piece of emotional closure the story needs. What makes the film special, though, is the character work. This is Bond still learning, still raw from his first real mission. He’s messy, impulsive, and not fully formed. Watching him choose to save Camille instead of pursuing Greene—internalizing M’s warning that sometimes we focus so much on enemies we forget our friends—shows subtle growth. The moment he leaves Vesper’s boyfriend alive at the end is another sign he’s inching toward the 007 we know, but without abandoning the emotional realism Craig brought to the role. The bigger tragedy is what happened outside the story. “Quantum” was clearly being positioned as the SPECTRE-of-the-modern-age, and the film hints at a shadow world of interconnected corruption. But the moment EON reacquired the rights to use SPECTRE again, all of this groundwork evaporated. A wasted opportunity, but not the film’s fault. For its moment, the world-building works. Even without Q or Moneypenny, MI6 feels refreshed—sleek glass screens, giant interactive tables, the sense that espionage has entered a new decade without drifting back into sci-fi. It’s modern without being fantastical, and that balance is exactly what Die Another Day never understood. As a companion piece to Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace is tight, stylish, emotionally honest film-making. Marc Forster took a swing that people weren’t ready for, but time has been far kinder to this film than its initial reception suggests. Go watch Octopussy again and tell me this is bad, I'll wait.
- ርልዪረ2025年1月29日/̵͇̿̿/'̿'̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ 𖥠 Quantum of Solace has received a lot of unfair criticism as the follow up to Daniel Craigs sublime debut Casino Royale! For me its almost as good. Its beautifully directed by Mark Forster, and lots of people mainly complain about the fast editing. But I promise you the more times you watch it, the easier it is to make out the action. So much so, that I think it has the best action sequences of Craigs tenure. Add to that gorgeous cinematography, excellent cast, a good story, and lots of lovely Fleming touches for us Bond fans. All in all, a sublime 007 movie, so much better the next one, SkyFall, now there's a film that's overrated!
- Zokkiie2026年1月12日It has a cool, gritty tone and Daniel Craig works well as a colder Bond, but the movie feels rushed and messy. The action is over-edited, the villain is pretty forgettable, and the plot is more confusing than clever. On the plus side, Camille is a strong companion and the emotional angle gives Bond more depth than usual. It’s not bad — just uneven and a bit underwhelming overall.
- Jakeys2026年1月3日This movie's main crime is following up on one of the best Bond movies of all time. It's actually not terrible, although it's not fantastic either. Olga Kurylenko is a great Bond girl, Bond's characterisation is also good in this, and the story is... well, it's okay. Dominic Greene is a slimy, lame Bond villain but I mean he is sort of written exactly to be that, it's just we're used to more charismatic villains. I remember not liking this when it came out but with the benefit of hindsight, Skyfall is no better (yes, I know this is hugely contentious) and Spectre is easily worse.
- Nathan Magreta2025年10月30日I mean, Casino royale was a masterpiece, and Quantum can't match it. It has a messy plot with a bad villain, but it also has great action and otherwise is a solid film. Overall, 7.5
- darsan2025年10月19日the most overhated daniel craig's 007 film out there and the action in this film is great.
- Lasse Viinikainen2025年11月30日A corrupt businessman controlling the price of water in Bolivia. That's a very difficult premise for a Bond movie.
- JD DeCelles2025年9月28日Picked up right where we left off, very well done.
- Mr. D2025年9月13日Good action scenes and sound. It's a good Bond movie. Not the best, but good.
- mickerdoo2025年7月12日I like Daniel Craig but this might be his weakest Bond (no fault of his own). Good action. Nice scenery. Just nothing else to grab onto.
- sergioram182025年6月15日Just exactly why I consider Daniel Craig the best 007 of all time. Great action, thrilling!
