Saw today in early access! As Churchill said, we won the war because we had the better meteorologists! Great movie about D-day 🔥 Happy Memorial Day!

A masterpiece waiting for awards. Extremely good performances all round, with Andrew Scott deserving an oscar for his lead performance.

The War Nobody Filmed Before There's something genuinely clever about finding a D-Day story that hasn't been told yet, and "Pressure" earns real credit just for knowing where to look. This is not a film about beaches and gunfire. It's a chamber drama about uncertainty, ego, and the almost absurd weight that can rest on a weather forecast, and that angle alone makes it feel fresher than most of the WWII prestige pictures that have come before it. Andrew Scott is the engine of the whole thing and he knows it. There's a controlled, quietly burning quality to his performance that keeps you watching even in scenes where not much is technically happening, and his dynamic with Brendan Fraser gives the film its best moments, two very different kinds of stubborn colliding in a room full of maps and tension. Fraser plays Eisenhower as a man carrying the weight of thousands of lives in his body language, which works even if the character is more function than depth. Chris Messina slots in as a slick foil and handles it with real ease. The production is handsome and restrained, set mostly within the grand, slightly oppressive rooms of a stately English manor that quietly does a lot of dramatic heavy lifting on its own. The cinematography keeps things intimate rather than sweeping, which is the right call, and Volker Bertelmann's score threads in quietly rather than announcing itself, adding tension without overdoing it. What the film is really about, underneath the meteorology, is the terror of not knowing and the even bigger terror of having to decide anyway. Those themes land with real weight, and the moments when "Pressure" leans fully into them are its most compelling. There's also a quietly resonant undercurrent about expertise being dismissed by people in power that feels like it's speaking to something well beyond 1944. The main issue is that the film's stage origins occasionally show through. Some stretches feel more like well performed scenes than cinematic momentum, and the inevitable outcome of events removes some of the tension the film is working hard to build. It's a film that sometimes argues for itself more than it dramatizes itself. Still, when Scott is on screen doing that thing he does, it's hard not to be absorbed. A smart, efficient film that picks an unusual angle and sticks to it, even when it doesn't quite have the cinematic muscle to fully escape its theatrical roots.

Pressure is a compelling historical drama that reveals how weather forecasting played a decisive role in the outcome of World War II. Set in the tense 72 hours before D-Day, the film follows meteorologist Captain James Stagg (Andrew Scott) and General Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) as they face an impossible choice: launch the largest seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war. It’s fascinating to see how weather forecasting was done before computers, relying on data from weather stations and balloons to predict conditions across the English Channel. Andrew Scott is particularly outstanding. This one is worth every American’s time.

This is a must see movie and regardless of what you think you like; you will enjoy this. It is largely accurate with only minor dramatic license used. The title perfectly captures the moment.

Incredible how important seemingly “never talked about” decisions most certainly changed the course of history.

🪖I never know what to expect when going into a WW2 film, let alone one that's main plot is trying to forecast the weather. But this film achieves a great amount of suspense and excitement even if what's being argued over is something we so easily take for granted in our daily lives. The ticking clock of what we know is an inevitability, D-Day, but seeing it happen through Andrew Scott's and Brendan Fraser's quality performances as Dr. James Stagg and Dwight Eisenhower respectively, this both sets the stakes of what a monumental and historic day that would be in 1944 France, and the tragedy that is war as a whole. A very powerful and excellent film that any history buff or anyone interested in the time period will throughly enjoy.

Went into this movie completely blind. All I knew was that it was a WW2 film. I was a little skeptical when I found out the main character was a meteorologist—that didn’t exactly scream excitement. But wow, was I wrong. This turned into a total stress bomb from beginning to end, which is exactly the kind of movie I love (think Whiplash, The Departed, Uncut Gems, etc.) Amazing story, great execution. Highly recommended. I’d give it 5 stars but for some reason plex is only allowing to do 4.5.

Pressure is a thoughtful World War II drama about people forced to make impossible decisions that affect millions. The acting is solid, and the focus is on courage and conviction rather than action. It's not a must-see, but if you enjoy historical dramas without the battlefield violence, it's worth watching.

They made the weather forecast exciting. That's about it.

Its good, and I like Brendan Fraser, but he's not the right cast for Ike. Regardless of how well this movie was made, it cannot stand up to Ike with Tom Selleck.
