A middle aged man obsessed with a young blonde resorts to murder when he spots her in bed with another man. Her body is found in woodland, where police decide that a reconstruction of her last movements will help jog people's memories. They coerce their young Detective Sergeant Gill Parsons into playing the role of the dead woman, despite her reluctance, while she is uncomfortable about having to work with her sexist colleagues. The only man who seems different from the rest is her dentist, who she begins to fall for - unfortunately for her, he happens to be the killer.
