/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿💥 I just LOVED this movie. I suppose it is a fairly light reason for John Wick to unleash himself on the world once again. However, gorgeous car and cute dog would probably do it for me too. If anyone hurt my dog, I'd probably beat them up too. All the main actors are superb. Michael Niqvist is brilliant as the Russian mob boss, and Alfie Allen is very good as his son, who doesn't have much (if anything) in the way of redeeming qualities. He is basically an entitled little brat. Willem Dafoe has a relatively small part, but he is excellent as always. However, Keanu Reeves IS John Wick. The fight scenes have a grace and beauty about them, and all the more so for the fact that aside from possibly one or two stunts, he did all of it himself - and in long takes. I can't help be thoroughly impressed by a guy who at 50 makes most actors his own age (and younger) look clunky on screen. I really enjoy films like this, but I can't help thinking that this film is going to age much better than the Die Hard movies have, possibly because John Wick wears some snazzy suits rather than a scabby old vest. I'm looking forward to the next installment. I'm just really hoping they don't screw it up cos it would be a terrible shame. If you are interested to see just how good Reeves is with a gun and how much actual gun training he did for the movie (let alone the Jiu Jitsu he learned) there is a video up on YouTube which is worth watching. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him that's for sure! Ah, found it. He's a pretty good shot!

Don’t know why I didn’t watch it until now. Great movie, most of it was action and I love that

The best of them all. The mystery of this world adds to the excitement and rage John feels.

So I vividly remember the first time I saw a trailer for John Wick in 2014, I thought it looked like a dreadfully generic action flick that would hardly be worth my $5 at the second run theatre. And I remember watching the credits come up and realizing I was completely wrong about it. And after the second movie came out, I was telling everybody, "A couple decades from now this is going to be known as one of the great American action trilogies after the next one. Bank it." And it hasn't been multiple decades, but if you go on ranking site Ranker right now and look at their list titled "The 45+ Greatest Action Film Franchises" you'll see it topped by none other than John Wick. So I feel very vindicated. Imagine my surprise, then, watching this again in theatre in 2026 and realizing I found it... Good, for sure, but well shy of the ground breaking, trail blazing, spear tip of the future of action cinema that I remembered. Don't get me wrong, there's a TON of great action in this thing. The unflinching wide shots that show off Wick's skills with both firearms and martial arts are a joy to watch, the necessity of actual reloads adds an element of realism, and there are some fantastic quips delivered memorably. Meanwhile, the super saturated rainbow cinematography and hints of a vibrant hitman underworld we're yet to fully understand easily set it apart from more generic and forgettable action fare, even the rest of that action awesomeness notwithstanding. This time around, though, I just felt like everything after Viggo leaves Wick tied up in a chair and walks out of the warehouse felt completely pointless because there's just no way the character we've watched all movie quiver and quake at this mythical beast in the form of a man tear through his every defense would do anything less than shoot him dead on the pavement where he lay. I get the thematics of it, I get that it stands in stark contrast to the way Wick handles Iosef: quick, clean, merciless. I get that's why John is John and nobody else can hold a candle to him (wick joke, sorry). But it just still felt like such a dusty and frail trope that stood out all the more because the movie is doing so many other innovative and refreshing things. The double blind of us never being sure exactly where Marcus' allegiance lies was really well done, and the way that plot line and the Ms. Perkins plot line coalesce is very satisfying, to be sure. Looking back, my original score in 2014 was a 3.5 stars, then in 2020 I gave it 5. Everyone's been asking if my rating is back to a 3.5... and yeah, I'm thinking it's back.

I liked it. Action from beginning to end. I have to be honest - I’m not exactly sure why all the hype surrounded this movie upon release. It’s a good movie, don’t get me wrong. It seems like they had a pretty large budget, and the action (that’s exactly what this franchise is known for) is great. The actors that are cast in supporting roles are good, but acting was not the focus here. Many cool scenes - for me, the club scene was my fav. I love Keanu, and I’ll be honest when I say that his acting is not top tier; he does possess a solid screen presence, and has been fortunate enough to have roles in recent years that utilize that to their advantage.

This movie changed my life. First podcast about a movie I ever recorded was on the drive home from seeing this opening night. I started a blog talking about the lore. Look at me now, John. Be seeing you.

John Wick is what happens when grief gets a gun and a tailored suit. Keanu doesn’t act—he reloads emotions with silencers and suplexes. It’s not a movie, it’s an art exhibit where every frame says, Baba Yaga
