When they manage to save, and after the dramatic death of the father and one of the brothers in gallery eight of the mine, they decide to buy a small exploitation of low-quality coal known as The Madman's Mine. With effort and work, little by little they manage to make a small fortune thanks to the export of coal during First World War. But each brother pursues different dreams: Jandro wants to go to Paris, while Pedro is bound and determined to find coal under the sea.
