A good old fashioned thriller, but little more. It's not quite gripping, but certainly entertaining. My biggest gripe was that the two main twists are revealed so early on, which for a whodunnit, kind of spoils most of the fun. I kept hoping it was a red herring, but I couldn't shake it, and any surprise was missing by the end, which was a shame. The only thing keeping me guessing was the questions re a supernatural element, but the second 'twist', which really wasn't, as it's one of the first things we learn, felt a bit, 'meh, ok.' Cusack plays Cusack, Liotta plays Liotta, and although that's kind of what you see movies with these actors for, again, it causes issues for suspense. Enjoyed, but not one I think you'll revisit in a hurry.

Identity is a great movie, if you have not seen this stop reading reviews and watch this now!!! If you continue reading reviews, someone will spoil the movie for you for sure. I promise I won't ... .and I never do unless I say something in the first line. I have enjoyed rewatching this movie multiple times over the years, even though for me I know the story and how it goes and ends, I still keep picking up little details along the way. Rewatchability will be different for everyone for sure but for me every 1 or 2 years is just enough to keep this towards the top of my John Cusack list for sure.

Trippy movie with one hell of an unexpected twist at the end. The cast is packed with all stars that work really well together. The plot was confusing in the beginning but then goes on to answer those questions and cleared things up perfectly. I was expecting mediocrity and instead received a surprising masterpiece.

I just saw this movie for the first time, and it made it into my top 20 worst movies ever. And honestly, of all the "psychological thrillers" I've seen, this may very well be the worst of them all. About this movie, the concept is OK but it has one of the most ridicoulus and unbelievable stories I have ever witnessed in any movie of all time. It's also one of those movies where you try to ignore it but the movie just keeps shoving plot holes, inaccuracies, and bad dialogue in your face, until it's just shockingly bad. The acting is also spotty, the characters are completely lifeless, there is literally almost no emotions portrayed here except overacted anger (very out of place, and sometimes even becomes comedy material, like the bathroom scene) or very bad crying woman scenes. The main hero is good at literally everything, and he randomly throws some of those manly-man tantrums every once in a while. Cool eh?… ok honestly the main guy is very annoying. Actually, the whole cast is kind of annoying and it's hard to sympathize with any one if them. And we never get to know anything really about their personalities. Despite the fact that, considering how the movie turns out, that would have been very interesting. Overall the movie is very clumsily made, and feels very amateurish all the time. It's also very cheesy at times, and the acting surely doesn't help here. The standard "what do you want from us!?" scene is a good example of this, and it almost drove me to laugh out loud. Such things keeps this movie from ever becoming intense or suspenseful, and not even once did I care who the murderer was or about the (very bad) "twist". It pretty much goes without saying that the ending was very poor and clumsy too, but I must point out that the "surprise" at the very end is so predictable that I really wonder what they were thinking there. Everyone must have seen that coming. Avoid this.
