Inspired by true events, Huhtikuu tells the story of Tuula who has learned that she is pregnant. Her husband Kassu doesn't know about the pregnancy and Tuula is struggling to find a way to tell him. One night, Tuula has a nightmare where she sees the remains of a brick building. In the morning, she's still worried about the dream and means to tell Kassu about the baby later in the evening. As they go to work, a beautiful spring morning will soon turn into tragedy. The story takes place in 1976's Lapua, Finland. A munitions factory (Lapuan Patruunatehdas) exploded that morning, killing 40 and injuring numerous workers.
