凶悪宇宙人ゴーグに母星を奪われ、宇宙を放浪するブーヴたち。彼らは、ゴーグが存在を知らない地球への移住を決定、高度な科学力で全人類を立ち退かせる。そんな中、ドジばかりで友達のいないブーヴのオウは、引っ越しパーティーの招待状を誤ってゴーグにまで送ってしまった。反逆者として追われる身となった彼は、隠れていた人間の少女チップと出会う。やがてオウはブーヴに連れて行かれたチップの母親を捜す手伝いをすることになる。

While visually captivating with its vibrant palette and dynamic animation, narratively it remains rather predictable and safe. The theme of expropriation and takeover of the planet by a clumsy alien race is surprisingly unsettling - the younger me might have been scared. The film carries a positive message about acceptance, empathy, and the need to understand others, though for adults it may feel like an overly simplified lesson. The alien race, the Boov, is an interesting concept, though as a species they come across as too uniform, lacking distinct traits or individuality. On the plus side, their quirky, humorous way of speaking adds a bit of charm to the world. It’s an easy watch overall, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that it lacks the spark of magic that defines DreamWorks’ best animations.
