I love the sentiment but it feels faux hopeful when coming from elites but I still support the message! Starting to see why Aziz took that Saudi money. He definitely values his status! I definitely need more irl companionship lmao

Good Fortune treats luck the way Event Horizon (1997) treats space, as a corridor to the pit disguised as a shortcut, and that frame lets the comedy click into a sharp moral machine; Aziz Ansari’s down-on-his-luck striver tries to behave like Captain Miller, sealing the airlocks on bad choices, while Keanu Reeves’ valley angel feels like a smiling Dr William Weir, a guide who keeps steering the ship toward the red glow, with Seth Rogen’s Hollywood Hills employer rattling the bulkheads through easy temptation and Keke Palmer giving the story its living stakes while Sandra Oh, Sherry Cola, and Stephen McKinley Henderson form a dry, pragmatic chorus. Paul W. S. Anderson’s film is a masterpiece of moral geometry, and the same duel between protocol and rapture animates Ansari’s setup, where each miracle lands like an engine alarm and every favor increases the pressure until cause and consequence fuse; the result is fizzy and humane on the surface, quietly hellish underneath, a satire that understands how a wish can open a door that was never meant to be opened.

Genuinely one of the most "netflixy" films I've seen. It's not that it's terrible or mean spirited, It's just a bit dull. The story and theme is nice enough, The acting is.... present and the general vibe is pretty laid back. I'll just dump my thoughts here as I don't really want to talk about it. Aziz Ansari isn't a good actor. Seth Rogan isn't a good actor AND he's annoying. Having a hollywood movie give this message is laughably out of touch. I have come to really hate the "netflix lighting" that seems to be so present these days, it really makes everything feel cheap.

The charm that exudes off of Keanu's Gabriel the angel in this movie can't be overstated, every time he's on screen you can't help but smile. Aziz struck the right tone of humor and drama, this story is going to be relatable to a lot of people. Seth and Keanu are two of my favourite humans so just seeing them together on screen for half of a movie brought me a lot of happiness. More people should've seen this at the show, support comedies, especially when they are this good. 👍👍 8.5/10

Nice good feeling movie, also not really something for Keanu but it was nice to see him in a different setting.

“I was a celestial being, now I’m a chain smoker, and I’m addicted to nicotine.” Hands down the funniest line in the entire movie

It certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to. It’s a refreshingly funny and unexpectedly life affirming movie about two guys and an angel. Which that in itself sounds the beginning of an interesting joke. Keanu Reeves is worth the watch by himself.

This movie gets its very important and real point across in the most entertaining way possible for me. The best three actors you could possibly choose to make this fun flick.

Wow this movie was depressing. I only gave it two stars for Keanu, otherwise it would have had one. If you've ever worked in the gig economy (and I have), you know this movie is distressingly accurate. Of course the rich life is better! Who wants to live out of their car? Nobody! Who would agree to live like that? Yeesh. Just another movie trying to convince the plebs that their life isn't THAT bad, and the rich don't have it THAT great. Right.

Likeable cast all around with Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, and Keke Palmer, and a surprising amount of pathos that makes it an enjoyable watch. It’s not exactly laugh out loud funny, but the humor works more often than not. The film ties its story to the degrading conditions of the gig economy and how systems are designed to keep working people struggling while funneling wealth upward.
Arj (Ansari) getting his car impounded for parking tickets is a perfect example of that cycle. He can only reclaim it if he pays everything in full, but each day adds more and more impound fees. Reeves plays a low-level guardian angel, Gabriel, who goes above his pay grade to offer Arj hope for his life by swapping his body with Jeff (Rogen), a white-collar capitalist, as a lesson in perspective. Gabriel assumes Arj will see that maybe Jeff’s life isn’t so easy and Arj will quickly ask for his life back. Naturally, it backfires, as money has an amazing ability to solve many of life’s problems. Gabriel is left scrambling to convince him to switch back or else he could lose his angel wings for good.
The premise works as a light satire with some warmth underneath. It just needed more Keke Palmer, whose brief screen time feels like an underused opportunity for spark. I lived the portrayal of her character Elena, who works tirelessly to unionize the workers at the hardware store at which both she and Arj are employed. The closing Seth Rogen boardroom monologue was a little heavy handed, but otherwise a pretty cute movie.
