- jackmeat2026年1月15日My quick rating - 4.2/10. It sounded interesting, and I like to see what is going on outside the USA movie scene. Forgotten Experiment hits from Russia, offering a refreshing departure from the typical American movie scene. This film attempts to delve into the uncharted territory of abnormal phenomena and reality-bending experiences. It sounded intriguing enough, but the execution leaves much to be desired, and that kept it from hitting its potential. I was keen on the idea of accidentally allowing rifts in time to be created while discovering a new material substance, but the way this movie went about exploring it was just off. We follow a group of eclectic heroes assembled by an enigmatic billionaire, drawn together to head into a mysterious, closed-off area teeming with inexplicable anomalies that defy the laws of science. As I said, sounded entertaining, and could've been a transformative journey that challenges their perceptions of reality itself. Led by Viktor Dobronravov playing Ethan Blake, the acting performances within the film range from passable to mediocre, but never really capture the complexity that they would demand. The ensemble cast, while diverse, never connected with me, so I didn't really give a crap what happened to them. I will also put some of that blame on the dubbing, which didn't seem to have any enthusiasm put into it. Also, the flick stumbles in its execution, particularly when it comes to its handling of time travel. The film's exploration of temporal mechanics lacks clarity, so you might end up struggling to grasp the mechanics of this crucial element. The confusion surrounding the concept of time travel detracts from the overall coherence of the storyline. Visual effects play a pivotal role in creating a sense of wonder and immersion in science fiction films, and Forgotten Experiment unfortunately doesn't do itself any favors here. Inconsistent CGI quality all over detracts from the world-building and buries any attempt to take us into this interesting setting. The pacing is another fault, especially with the resolution of the story. The finale is unnecessarily dragged out, and what could've just wrapped this up instead was trying my patience. I wasn't really angry, but I was annoyed. I just see it as a missed opportunity to show what they could do with sci-fi cinema, but what was left was a confusing mess.
