Binks, the Strikebreaker

1913年2月22日    5mコメディ, Short
The waiters at the Astoria Hotel are working in perfect harmony, until they find that one of their staff, "Fatty Marston," is a scab, and will not join the Walters' Union. In the midst of the busy dinner hour, the "walking delegate" arrives, blows his whistle, and to the dismay of the guests and the manager they instantly quit work. He appeals to them to stay; but they will not listen to him, and after beating Fatty Marston, they leave the place. The manager puts this notice outside his hotel: "WAITERS WANTED." This attracts the notice of Charley Binks, who is out of work. He goes in and applies for work, the manager is pleased, but he wants to see Binks' references. Binks hands him one, showing how he was released from a lunatic asylum. The manager will not hire him, but as all the guests are clamoring for service, he decides to take a chance. He rigs Binks up in a dress suit and, owing to his lack of knowledge of the art of waiting, all sorts of mishaps occur, culminating in a perfect riot when he serves an order of "Lobster Salad Undressed," in his nightshirt.
