One of my favourite songs lives in this film, and I didn’t even realise this was where it came from until I finally watched it in my twenties. That moment alone added an unexpected layer to the experience, like discovering a memory you didn’t know you’d been carrying around. Having friendships that stretch back to my earliest days, and still being in contact with those people now, a lot of this resonated deeply. The way the film handles time passing — drifting apart, coming back together, changing without breaking — feels honest in a way that sneaks up on you. I’ve watched this more than once, and it holds up every time. It knows exactly what it’s doing emotionally and doesn’t apologise for it.
