Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still click, just in a more laid-back way this time. The humor lands, and it doesn’t feel as bloated as the second one. It plays things a bit safer and doesn’t go as wild, but that actually helps. Still an easy, fun watch, just a bit more put together.

Bad Boys for Life doesn’t try to reinvent the genre or pretend it’s anything more than the third lap of a very familiar race — and that turns out to be its biggest strength. It knows exactly what it is, and more importantly, it knows who Mike and Marcus are now. What really works here is the self-awareness. The film lets Lawrence and Smith age into these roles instead of fighting it, and there’s something genuinely satisfying about watching the characters acknowledge time, consequences, and changing priorities. The humour still lands, but it’s tempered just enough to feel earned rather than recycled. The set pieces are solid rather than spectacular, and that’s fine. They do the job without overwhelming the film, which is a nice change of pace for the franchise. The chaos is still there, but it’s better framed, giving the banter room to breathe — and the banter remains the beating heart of the whole thing. Is it groundbreaking? Not even slightly. But it is a pleasant surprise. A long-delayed sequel that finds a sensible place for itself in the modern blockbuster landscape while proving there’s still some life left in this very ‘90s brand of goofy banter and chaotic gunfights. Sometimes that’s all you want — and this delivers it cleanly. 🍷 A mid-range red shared with old mates — familiar, relaxed, and better than you expected it to be.

- Kevin Ward2025年7月1日Finished out the series with our kids. (They had seen Ride or Die already). Still fun, but don’t think I enjoyed it quite as much as I did in the theater. I remember entry from the franchise being an absolute blast with a packed theater crowd. I can’t decide which I like best but the quality is pretty consistent.
