Great movie, nothing crazy, maybe boring at times. Realistic relatable characters, excellent acting. Made me feel nice and warm.

An interesting and lively film that breaks free from the molds of monotony. Indeed, the movie begins by highlighting precisely that: the monotony of daily life that drains people's spirit, rendering life itself stale and unsatisfying. Four high school teachers—Martin (history), Peter (music), Nikolaj (psychology), and Tommy (physical education)—realize exactly this: the monotony that stifles life and the drive that keeps it moving forward. The spark is ignited during a dinner among the four friends when they discuss a theory by Norwegian psychiatrist Skårderud, who claims that humans live with a blood alcohol level that is too low and should maintain a level of around 0.05% (0.5‰) to reap social and even professional benefits. The initiative comes from the most unlikely person—Martin—who has become increasingly listless and drained of color by his monotonous existence. He begins by taking small sips of alcohol before his lessons. This makes him more interactive, playful, and lively with his students, who immediately appreciate this new approach. The same happens for the other three friends; they decide to raise the bar, observing—paradoxically—that the results improve even further. However, they eventually go too far, inevitably losing what they had built over time—and, tragically, even lives are lost. Visually, the film employs both cool tones—predominantly for scenes conveying sadness or seriousness—and brighter colors for moments of jubilation and joy. The performances are, once again, masterful and spot-on—especially (as usual, I might add) that of Mads Mikkelsen. The opening and closing party scenes are defining, emblematic elements of the film's subject matter, adding a further layer of coherence and completeness to its structure. Ultimately, then, the film is not an incitement to alcohol consumption; rather, it is about not letting oneself be swept along by the flow of life—whether by monotony or by vices—but instead taking control and making it one's own, without harming or even destroying oneself...

Mads Mikkelsen is very good, and he continues to prove it.

A devastatingly beautiful elegy for lost potential, masterfully blending tragic self-destruction with the desperate, fleeting joy of feeling alive. It leaves you soberly heartbroken.

The effects of alcoholism displayed in various ways, both positive and negative.

Just very palatable. Somewhere between hedonism and nihilism there is a razors edge where the you you dreamt of in your school days gets to be the life of the party, and if you can just stay there forever, maybe that’s all you need. Maddy can cut a rug, good on him.
