- makdelart2026年3月26日The most valuable films are those that stir emotions and do not leave the viewer indifferent. This is certainly the case with this film. Although classified as science fiction, it is more of a mystery film, closer to the realm of the mystical. One might find many illogicalities and technical flaws here, but this is not a science film; it is not a scientific essay, and dwelling on such matters leads one astray.

If you're the movie watcher who likes to sink their teeth into a piece of media and likes to understand the deep metaphorical meaning behind things you may have missed while watching the movie for the first time, you'll find a rewarding story about topics like dealing with trauma and how relationships can evolve. If you're not that type of person who wants to do the work to understand a movie, and like your message to be more neatly presented to you, then you'll find this movie to be, on the surface, a slight letdown.

- Ajay2026年1月31日I watched Garland's DEVS before watching Annihilation, and didn't realise this till the end of the film. So lo and behold my surprise when the ending and the haunting soundtrack feel very... familiar... - AH. The film does quite a fantastic job at presenting an existing concept (strange thing from outer space lands on Earth, how many times have we seen that before?) in a unique way, where the focus is not on the military gung-ho and more on a scientific expedition fuelled by curiosity. The concepts presented align to what you'd expect from Garland - complex, intellectual prompts that reuqire you to think more than gape at the cool visual effects. And it does it very well. Sure, there are some frightening scenes and a bit of combat, but the core is about identity and existence as a whole - which is spectacular. Performances are great all around, and it makes for a movie you're going to want to watch again - and see if you change your hypothesis on the ending this time around.

- Pascal Bollier2026年1月26日this movie deserves an attribute that i handout very rarely.....it is both interesting and intriguing. while i will never be a fan of nathalie portman, she is at least not annoying in this one. the rest of the cast, even valkyrie, are pretty good. however, this is not about the performances. its about the story. and the story keeps you guessing, it does not hold your hand and it does not give you a nice, everything is resolved kind of an ending. it's challenging. and there must be room for movies like this.
- Robot Monster2025年12月28日I love a sci-fi/horror film that leaves me thinking. Annihilation does this along with some excellent visual and audio effects without it being a soup of CGI. The ending forces you to think it out as well and makes it a solid choice for a second watch. The cast is strong and there is very convincing tension befitting the crisis being portrayed. And unlike so many crap films that pander to audiences simply because the leads are female, here is a genuinely interesting and creative sci-fi film that happens to have a very strong female cast.
