David Fincher is such an excellent Director, it's shameful how his debut feature was so mishandled and how awful he was treated. It left him forever silent on the topic. This new cut vindicates Fincher and all the hard work therein. Legacy Cut is the one to see. Fuller, coherent and damn good all around.
- "THE MOVIE FANATIC"2026年4月25日It depends on which cut we're talking about....if its the theatrical cut then Alien 3 is a total disaster where the the whole theme and with the angle what they were going for with this 3rd film doesn't come together and therefore doesn't really work. However the Assembly Cut Alien 3 is a significantly better movie even though its still not the story and creative decisions that us fans wanted....but it does thematically come together and is the best version that we could ever have gotten in what they were going for....it does fully come together even if its not how we wanted it to. And what I mean is yes I know it still doesn't change the fact that Hicks & Newt were killed offscreen and totally undoes the victory of Aliens....I totally get that. But I do see it very realistic because like in real life there's always a curve ball and its about showing what hand we get dealt with in life we've got to adapt to it even....if it wasn't the path that we set out for and wanted and I think Alien 3 the Assembly Cut hammers that message home very effectively imo...and it should have definitely ended here. My finally my Ratings/Scores for Alien 3 first of all the theatrical cut is a 4/10 & ⭐️⭐️ And for the Assembly Cut my Rating/Score is a 8/10 & a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Zokkiie2026年4月1日Honestly kinda mixed on this one. It’s got a cool, dark vibe going and I did like how bleak it feels — definitely stands out in that way. Some moments look great and stick with you for a bit. But yeah, it never really clicks as a whole. Feels a bit messy, like it didn’t fully figure out what it wanted to be. Some parts feel rushed, others just kind of drift. Not bad or anything, just a bit frustrating because you can see it could’ve been way better.
- Jimmy James2025年4月15日Just finished watching the Legacy Cut. It's a vast improvement on the original. Imo it takes the movie from a solid 3 star to a generous 4 star. The CG has been improved; some editing changes; 4k with film grain intact; and in general, a more fun watch. The biggest takeaway is the Legacy Cut was born of passion for the movie; something that definitely can't be said for the other two cuts out there. Given the movie's past, the Legacy Cut will probably be the closest we ever get to a director's cut, and after having watched it, I'm ok with that.
- Vincent Reggiannini2025年8月29日If you’re an Alien fan this 3rd iteration of the alien franchise is an extremely polarizing and controversial movie. Director David Fincher really had his hand forced in this movie with relentless pressure from a studio who just saw dollar signs in their eyes. The movie starts off on the wrong foot with a plot choice that just destroys whatever the 2nd film fought so hard for. If Fincher wanted to be controversial he certainly attained that goal, but for all the wrong reasons. Over the years I have come to appreciate the movie for its cinematography and atmosphere but also to greatly admire Sigourney Weaver’s performance. She gives probably the most gut wrenching take on her character’s growth and her emotional grief. Weaver really let it all go here, and she carries the movie through its poor opening. Charles Dance is intriguing enough to hold your attention, but the rest of the cast are all boiler-plate nobodies. Charles Dutton does the best he can with a poorly fleshed out character, but he offers a decent foil for Ripley to interact with. Watch this movie for Weaver alone as she not only deals with this relentless creature haunting her life but an all-male cast of despicable people.
- Tom Majski2025年11月24日To me this much maligned sequel is an amazing follow up to Aliens. It completes a trilogy of movies that feel distinctly 70's, 80's and 90's in the best way. None of them compete with each other but they all feel worthy in their own right. Yes, out of the 3 this is the weakest, but considering the pedigree of Alien and Aliens thats hardly a condemning statement. This time I finally saw the Assembly cut. Whilst I genuinely enjoyed the original theatrical release, the extended version does bring it together narratively. Albeit at the expense of feeling a little bloated in parts. Down to the movie though. The idea of a prison planet is great. Isolated and worthless, without weapons or hope of help. Its such a cool and singular idea and really captures the vastness and weirdness of space for the last time in the series. Nothing feels this lonely in the franchise again. The cast is really good too. Brian Glover as Andrews steals the show with surprising backup from Charles Dance and Pete Postlethwaite. The surprising group of British allstars adds a really fun variation that just works. Visually the entire film takes place seemingly in the steelworks from Terminator 2. Maybe the set was still fresh from a year earlier. It looks great and has a tonne of fun atmosphere. Shame the CGI and chase sequences let it down a little. All in all I love it. A total change in direction and vibe for a movie that doesn't even try to compete with Camerons entry and is all the better for it. Considering the production difficulties, the result lands really well for me, which seems contrary to a lot of opinions.
- MetroidTalon2025年8月22日The theatrical cut of Alien³ is a bold but uneven swing. Visually bleak and thematically heavy, it ditches the crowd-pleasing setup of Aliens in favor of grim fatalism. Fincher’s direction is already confident, but the studio interference bleeds through. Characters blur together, key scenes feel rushed, and major emotional beats land flat. There’s power buried in here, but the cut keeps getting in its own way. A frustrating sequel with flashes of greatness that hint at the film it could have been.
- naren shenoy2026年3月16日This was worse than I remember. The special effects were shoddy even for that time period. Abandoning practical effects for animation, we get a xenomorph that is inconsistent in scale and scope throughout the movie. I did like that we were back to one alien terrorizing multiple humans, but beyond that, this was poorly written and executed, which is surprising considering the director’s history beyond this movie. For franchise fans only. Missable for everyone else.
