The story begins on the night between 3rd and 4th May 1980 in the corridors of the Ljubljana Clinical Center in front of the room where Marshal Tito is seriously ill. From the guarded hospital room, General Blagojevic, Tito's confidant, brings a mysterious envelope and hands it over to one of the two guards. Blagojevic escaped from the army police who came to arrest him. He disappears into the night through a side exit. Thirty years later, Inspector Rene Arko learns that his father, one of the guards of that fateful night, died in strange circumstances. He finds an envelope in the general's legacy, some letters in it and a book of Preseren's Poems, which obviously has a special meaning. In the forensic laboratory, he discovers an encrypted message hidden in the book… He ends up in the cabinets of the Slovenian government and the diocesan office in Maribor, as General Arko was the most influential general of the former state and the central figure of Slovenian independence.
