- Richard3 novembre 2025Saw it on TV in the early ’80s and it felt like Halloween had moved in permanently, with a laugh track and a heart of gold. Herman Munster is Frankenstein’s monster with a childlike grin and a booming laugh. Lily’s a vampire with elegance, Grandpa’s a mad scientist with a coffin commute, Eddie’s a werewolf in short pants and Marilyn… well, she’s the “normal” one, which in this household makes her the oddball. Together, they live in a gothic mansion on 1313 Mockingbird Lane, navigating suburban life with monstrous charm. The tone? Pure black and white magic. It’s spooky but sweet, satirical but sincere. The jokes land with a wink, the sets creak with character and Fred Gwynne’s Herman is the beating heart, goofy, gentle and always trying his best. It’s a sitcom that never mocked its monsters, but celebrated their quirks. Watching it again is like curling up with a bowl of cereal and a blanket, back when Sky Channel or RTL might surprise you with a rerun that made you laugh and feel oddly seen. It’s not just nostalgia, it’s comfort TV with fangs.
