Dove guardare Obi-Wan Kenobi
- Hipster ZOMBIE2 marzo 2025“I sense something, a presence I have not felt since…” Remember when Darth Vader uttered that line from A New Hope? Well thanks to this show, that line just sounds dumb now. Because not only does Vader run into Obi Wan a lot in this show he also talks to him, fights him, and even has a prequel trilogy flashback scene with him. Whoever was in the writers room for this show obviously knew nothing about the original trilogy or cared enough about continuity. Kenobi is a classic bait and switch show where instead of following Kenobi and a young Luke we follow Kenobi and a young Leia. Also like all new movies and tv shows nowdays, Kenobi who fans all say THE Jedi Knight is now just a coward separated from the force and sulking in a cave. But it gets better because if you thought you were going to see peak Darth Vader in action, instead you get to tag along with an imperial inquisitor named Reva. Stabbed in the chest as a child by Vader. Yes a child survives a lightsaber stabbing but Jedi Knight Qui-Gon does not. Not only is the show poorly written, but the special effects here are next level bad. The first time we see Vader run into Kenobi the fight is filmed like a poorly shot fan film. Later in the series, Reva is fighting against a fighter starship and it looks ridiculous. It’s a horrible show and an insult to long time fans.
- Kevin Ward7 luglio 2025Did really did not care for most of this show even if the finale nearly saves it. There is plenty of good in the series. Ewan reprises his role effectively and it’s clear that he really loves this character. The final duel between Vader and Obi-Wan is excellent and in my opinion much more cinematic than their duel on Mustafar. Aside from that though, there wasn’t much else that felt very compelling from a story perspective and so much of it felt very forced. My biggest gripes are with the exponentially increasing number of fake deaths that the Star Wars franchise seems enjoy using for dramatic effect. Fake-out deaths merely cheapens the stakes of nearly everything that follows and worse, just feels like bad storytelling. So while ultimately landed on the positive with regards to Obi-Wan, I think I really could have done without it.
- theLillyPad18 giugno 2025This is where I finally got off the Star Wars train for sure. My final hope dashed against the rocks. Is it awful? Not really--though it is replete with issues. Its biggest sin isn't that it seems dead set on focusing on characters other than Obi-Wan, or that it introduces more plot strains than it seeks to solve, or that its poor pacing forces us to meander through 3 or 4 episodes where very little happens. Its that they brought back Ewan and Hayden for this, and that it is boring. The last two episodes are the best the mini-series has to offer, but they never justify the shows existence, and are certainly not worth the slog to get to them.
