After being seriously wounded, former Major Roman Melnik is serving his “long service” until retirement in the escort troops of the Federal Penitentiary Service as the head of the visiting guard. In one of the shifts, he accompanies a batch of especially dangerous criminals in a special train car. Having stopped at one of the stations, Melnik leaves for work. At this time, an unknown person enters the car and, having neutralized the convoy, frees 13 prisoners. The leadership of the FSB asks Melnik to lead a group to capture the escaped criminals, citing the fact that the investigation should not receive publicity in the press, as it can cause panic among the population.
