Created and performed by the talented troupe behind Horrible Histories and Yonderland, it’s a pitch-perfect blend of wit, absurdity, and heart that could only come from British TV. The story follows Alison and her husband Mike, who inherit a grand but crumbling country estate… along with its resident ghosts. From a trouserless Tory MP (Julian) and a sarcastic caveman (Robin) to a dim-witted scout leader (Pat), a headless Tudor (Humphrey), and the house’s imperious lady of the manor (Kitty), every spirit brings their own brand of delightful chaos. Many of the show’s best moments were lifted almost verbatim for the U.S. version — but watching this original makes it nearly impossible to go back. The dry delivery, subtle timing, and quiet absurdity that define British humour shine through every haunting and every heartfelt moment.
