Then, the teams must work out which season James is talking about by standing under the correct tree. If they’re right, they will get covered in spring blossom, summer sunlight, autumn leaves or winter snow! Finally, a player from each team must memorise a pattern of animals on the Memory Path, before guiding their partner across it. In the lab, Sam, Ayo and James complete a quiz to find out which animals they share qualities with. But who is the eagle, the herring gull or the dung beetle?
  • Observations
    E16
ObservationsTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must use their knowledge of forces by pumping air into balloons attached to rockets to land them on a target. Then, in a game based on light and shadows, the young scientists have to figure out what their team captains are holding by observing their shadows behind a huge screen. Finally, the teams bounce around on trampolines to feel like astronauts experiencing low gravity on the moon. They must grab as many space objects hanging above them as they can before the time is up. In the lab, Sam helps Ayo with an experiment by making observations and recording their findings in his notebook.
  • About Time
    E17
About TimeTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must work out if an object is heavier or lighter than another, before placing it on a giant set of scales. Then, there’s a game based on sound and pitch, as Sam and Ayo play a tune using three hidden jars filled with different volumes of water. The teams must then figure out which order the jars go in to make the tune. Finally, a player from each team must memorise a pattern of animals on the Memory Path, before guiding their partner across it. In the lab, Sam and Ayo look at stopwatches and egg timers. Then, they have fun timing how long it takes them to carry out tasks.
  • Memory
    E18
MemoryTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must match a sequence of colours given to them by mixing primary colours to make secondary ones. Then, in a game based on light and shadows, the young scientists have to figure out what their team captains are holding by observing their shadows behind a huge screen. Finally, the teams dress as bees with sticky legs to transfer pollen between giant flowers. Meanwhile, Sam and Ayo are sending a package back to Earth. Ayo teaches Sam a method of remembering all the items they need to pack by creating a story about them.
  • Heavy and Light
    E19
Heavy and LightTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, the teams must guess which animals Sam and Ayo are looking at through their telescope based on a series of clues. Then the teams must work out which season James is talking about by standing under the correct tree. If they’re correct, they’ll get covered in spring blossom, summer sunlight, autumn leaves or winter snow. Finally, the teams learn about structures by building arched bridges that they can step across to reach an island. Meanwhile, Ayo and Sam are packing for a mission in the space capsule, but they can’t carry more than 2.5kg. Can they work out what to take so that their packs aren’t too heavy?
  • Measurments
    E20
MeasurmentsTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must guide magnetic rockets out of the Magnet Maze, dodging comets and stars along the way. Then, they have to pedal bikes to power up lights and launch a rocket. Finally, the teams must make their way across a giant inflatable version of the solar system. Can they get from Neptune to Mercury without being knocked by the swinging stars? In the lab, Ayo and Sam are planting space orchid seeds. They must use measurements to ensure they space them apart correctly and give them enough compost and water.
  • Fingerprints
    E21
FingerprintsTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, the teams must identify objects using just one of the five senses. Then, there’s a fast-paced game based on personal hygiene. Finally, the teams must take items from a giant conveyor belt and sort them so they can be reused and recycled. To make it even trickier, the players are attached to bungee cords! Ayo’s new detective mystery book goes missing, so she searches for fingerprints to discover who’s borrowed it.
  • Temperature
    E22
TemperatureTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must use their knowledge of forces by pumping air into balloons attached to rockets to land them on a target. Then, the young scientists dig for dinosaur parts in ball pits. Finally, a player from each team must memorise a pattern of animals on the Memory Path before guiding their partner across it. Meanwhile, Sam and Ayo must keep the lab at a cold temperature so they can conduct an experiment with ice. But can they work out how to keep themselves warm at the same time?
  • Defying Gravity
    E23
Defying GravityTwo teams touch down at the STARS space station to take on three scientific challenges to win out-of-this-world prizes. First, they must decide whether objects will float or sink in a water tank. Then, there’s a game based on sound and pitch as Sam and Ayo play a tune using three hidden jars filled with different volumes of water. The teams must then figure out which order the jars go in to make the tune. Finally, the teams must work out which season James is talking about by standing under the correct tree. Then, there’s a fast-paced game based on personal hygiene in which the young scientists must race against the clock to brush as much food as possible off giant teeth. Finally, the teams bounce around on trampolines to feel like astronauts experiencing low gravity on the moon. They must grab as many space objects hanging above them as they can before the time is up. In the lab, Sam and Ayo have a new sound wave monitor to help them learn more about volume and pitch. They decide to test it out by making musical instruments from items around the lab.
