They are being watched by Sam who is curious as to why Henry is interested in the old mill. Annie invites Jim and Kathy round for tea. The village wonders whether Henry is interested in Miffield Hall. Emmerdale Farm has a leaky window in the attic. Episode 251 (Mon 21st April 1975)Rosemary learns more about her mother. George has put his land up for sale. Reverend Ruskin asks to speak to Sam. Sam's hopes about being elected churchwarden are dashed when Edward asks him who he thinks would be best elected as churchwarden, someone who is younger. Episode 252 (Tue 22nd April 1975)Rosemary makes an apology. Rumour gets round that James is installing a bathroom into the cottage he rents. James says he has actually bought the cottage so will be staying in Beckindale. The election for the People's Warden is held. Reverend Ruskin has some news of his own. He is being transferred to another parish in the area. He says he will keep in touch with Beckindale residents. Sam has been nominated as churchwarden but turns the vote down. It is between Annie and Cyril Bush. Cyril withdraws, so Annie is elected as the new churchwarden. Ruskin then declares the meeting closed. - Episode 253 (Mon 28th April 1975)E31
Episode 253 (Mon 28th April 1975)It's lambing time, but with Annie now elected Church Warden there is a shortage of hands at Emmerdale Farm. While Annie's gone down to the village to talk to the vicar she's left Rosemary in charge of dinner. Episode 254 (Tue 29th April 1975)Matt wants to go search for Annie, but Henry offers to go instead. Rosemary's baked ham is a great success, even with Sam. While looking for Annie Henry twists his ankle opening a gate. Kathy comes to The Woolpack to get some sherry. She wants to make a trifle for her father's birthday. She talks to Amos about Reverend Ruskin leaving, and Amos suddenly realizes that Liz will be leaving too, and wonders if Henry has thought about the consequences for the shop. - Episode 255 (Mon 5th May 1975)E33
Episode 255 (Mon 5th May 1975)Rosemary thinks a relationship is developing between Joe and Kathy. Ernie Shuttleworth, the landlord of The Malt Shovel, the village's rival pub appears at The Woolpack. Episode 258 (Tue 13th May 1975)Joe finds his helping hand unwelcome and Rosemary complicates matters by drinking with Martin. Jim comes into The Woolpack and sees Martin with Rosemary. Jim demands that Martin comes home now. Martin refuses. Jim says he need not come home at all then. Jim gives Martin some money, saying he wont have it be said that he turfed him out to starve. Annie is becoming worried about Rosemary's future, and finds she is unwittingly likely to renew the friction between the Gimbels and the Sugdens. Episode 260 (Tue 20th May 1975)Annie has a serious talk to Martin and has doubts about her election as Church Warden. Edward gives Jim a talking to over his attitude to his family. Jim says how he does not like being told how to run a farm by his own son when Edward says you should listen to young people as they have a say in the world they are going to live in. Episode 274 (Tue 25th Nov 1975)Madge continues to make her presence felt at Emmerdale Farm. Hilda's aghast to discover her sister-in-law has shown her face in Beckindale again. Sam finds himself in a predicament when his dislike for Madge is tempered by her flattery. When Madge is out collecting some cabbages, Sam says she was married to Frank Semple 30 years ago but she left him for a Londoner who was only in the village for 2 days. Sam says Frank went to London to find her but was unsuccessful, and upon his return to Beckindale, he shut himself away, and later died. Hilda wants Madge thrown out of The Woolpack, but Henry and Amos refuse. - Episode 278 (Tue 9th Dec 1975)E56
Episode 278 (Tue 9th Dec 1975)Madge says she has been contacted by the housing officers in London, telling her they have a new flat for her. She says she will be returning to London tomorrow so will not be a nuisance to Beckindale any more. Madge opens up to Annie about how she ran off with a man, Mickey, when she left Frank. Madge says Frank and his family went to London to look for her so they could duff her and Mickey up, but Mickey had some mates as well. Madge says things did not work out shortly after they had arrived in London, and Mickey left her, and she gave up on men after that. Meanwhile, Beckindale awaits Sam's decision - the future of their traditional Harvest Supper hangs in the balance. Madge attends The Harvest Supper that night. She makes peace with Hilda and says to her that she is going back to London in the morning. Madge enjoys her last night in Beckindale and dances on the stage. Matt bumps into an old friend, Sarah Foster, when they both discover a sheep lying in the middle of a country road. Episode 284 (Tue 30th Dec 1975)Sarah's decision about the stables surprises everyone except Annie and she tells Matt that she is returning to her husband. She then says to Amos that she is leaving tomorrow. It transpires that she is not married at all, and she just said she was. Meanwhile, the New Year Celebrations are about to take place in The Woolpack. Sarah has dropped the idea of renting the stables. Sarah and Matt have a talk and decide to call things off. Matt says to Sarah she can come back to Beckindale any times and Sarah says she may just take him up on that offer.
