- Callum23 ottobre 2025⭐⭐⭐ (out of 5) Charmed (2018) – A modern spell with heart, ambition, and a touch too much polish. “Charmed” (2018) rekindles the Power of Three with a new cast, a sharper aesthetic, and a modern sense of purpose. The sisters once again find themselves thrust into a world of magic, destiny, and danger — but this time filtered through the lens of contemporary social themes and fast-paced storytelling. It’s familiar ground reborn for a new era: more prophecy, more mythology, and less of the cosy charm that made the original series so endlessly rewatchable. The show tries to mix heavy world-building with emotional drama, but sometimes the magic feels manufactured — all ingredients present, yet missing a little of the soul that made the ’90s version sparkle. While the chemistry between the new sisters improves as the series goes on, the tone is far more serious and self-aware, where the original had a wink and warmth. Think A Discovery of Witches meets Riverdale: ambitious, stylish, and occasionally overwrought. It’s still a decent watch — the production value is high, and the cast gives it genuine energy — but the spell never quite lands as powerfully as it hopes. A show that enchants in moments, but fades too quickly once the credits roll.

Ambientato nella fittizia città universitaria di Hilltowne, la serie inizia con le sorelle Mel (Melonie Diaz) e Maggie Vera (Sarah Jeffery) che vivono insieme alla madre Marisol (Valerie Cruz), che poco dopo viene attaccata e uccisa da una forza demoniaca sconosciuta. Tre mesi più tardi Mel e Maggie scoprono di avere una sorellastra più anziana, Macy Vaughn (Madeleine Mantock), tenuta segreta per anni dalla madre, ma recentemente trasferitasi a Hilltowne, per accettare un nuovo lavoro presso l'università locale. Dopo il primo incontro, le sorelle, iniziano inaspettatamente a manifestare i loro poteri magici; la maggiore Macy riceve il potere della telecinesi, la sorella di mezzo Mel riesce a congelare il tempo e la più giovane, Maggie, riesce invece a sentire i pensieri della gente. Marisol aveva vincolato i poteri delle sue figlie quando nacquero, in modo da potergli far vivere una vita normale, e stava per sciogliere quei poteri la notte in cui fu assassinata. Le sorelle, malgrado lo sconvolgimento iniziale, accettano in definitiva il loro nuovo destino come Prescelte e il trio più potente di streghe inizia la sua missione, ovvero, proteggere gli innocenti ed eliminare demoni e stregoni.
