    An Atmospheric but Uneven Zombie Horror - Betaal is an Indian horror series that combines a zombie outbreak with colonial history, folklore, and military action. The remote tunnel setting and eerie atmosphere create an interesting foundation for suspense and supernatural terror. Vineet Kumar Singh and Aahana Kumra deliver committed performances, while the show raises themes of greed, exploitation, and historical violence. However, inconsistent visual effects, rushed storytelling, and underdeveloped characters prevent the concept from reaching its full potential. Overall, Betaal is a short and occasionally entertaining horror series, but it is more memorable for its unusual premise than its execution.

    Following Radhika Apte's Ghoul, Betaal is another decent attempt from Netflix at delivering genuine horror from the Indian streaming space. While the overarching storyline feels a bit weak and underdeveloped, the series still manages to deliver a handful of genuinely chilling moments in every episode.
