Born on November 1, 1987, in Mahim, Bombay (present-day Mumbai), Maharashtra, to Ronaldo D'Cruz and Samira, she grew up in Mumbai and Goa, completing her schooling in Goa. She entered the glamour industry as a teenager through print modeling and television commercials, notably appearing in high-profile advertisements alongside Marc Robinson and Rakesh Shrestha, which led to film auditions in South Indian cinema.
She made a sensational acting debut in Y. V. S. Chowdary's Telugu romantic action drama *Devadasu* (2006) opposite Ram Pothineni, which emerged as a massive commercial blockbuster and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South.
