Siamo nel 1992 e gli X-Men vivono un periodo di pace grazie alla scelta del professor Xavier di inviare i suoi migliori studenti in missioni di soccorso internazionale. Quando lo chiama il presidente degli Stati Uniti per salvare un equipaggio intrappolato in una navicella nell'orbita terrestre, prossima a essere distrutta da una sorta di tempesta di energia, il team composto da Ciclope, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Storm e Quicksilver accetta di rischiare la vita nonostante Mystica, loro leader sul campo, consigli prudenza. Nella concitazione del soccorso, Jean rimane però indietro e finisce investita da un'energia aliena. Miracolosamente la assorbe e sopravvive, ma scoprirà di aver fatto proprio un potere spaventoso.

    The worst movie in this series. I will never understand how Hollywood can screw up a story that has been done perfectly in other media.

    A disappointing end to the X-Men prequel movies. The Dark Phoenix story has always had a lot of potential, but this version never really captures the emotional weight or the scale it should have. Sophie Turner does what she can with the role, and there are a few good moments, but the movie feels like it’s missing something. The action is decent and there are some cool visuals, but the story feels rushed and a lot of the characters don’t get much to do. It’s not the worst superhero movie out there, but after everything this series built up to, it ends up feeling pretty underwhelming. A missed opportunity for what should’ve been a much bigger moment.

    The entire plot hinges on the idea that a particular character is convinced they have no friends, only to just remember in the third act that they really did have friends the whole time and could’ve avoided all this.

    It had potential, with a vulnerable young girl controlling the fate of humanity, but it is poorly executed with a flat villain, making it an okay superhero film rather than the massive finale to the prequel trilogy it was meant to be.

    A moody, scaled-down finale that never reaches its cosmic promise. Jean’s inner conflict has weight, but the story rushes past it. Great cast doing their best with a shaky script. Okay to watch once, but it doesn’t leave much behind
