Edimburgo.

The ultimate “feel good” film —30th Anniversary Celebration— 🎉🎊👏🏼🙌🥳 “With God’s help, I’ll conquer this terrible affliction.” You just gotta love when an antihero wins… That fucking baby changed my life Shirley Henderson was an answer at trivia on Tuesday so this viewing felt necessary and 🙏 blessed 🙌 For the record, Sick Boy is ABSOLUTELY wrong about Lou Reed’s solo work. Egregious take from a heroin addict. It is nice that Danny at least acknowledges it by having him in the soundtrack lol Just the fucking greatest ugh quite possibly the best pacing in cinema (in addition to the best soundtrack) Every set. Every move! Perfection. I watched all of Jackass the tv series last week so it’s been a “Common People” resurgence! And Iggy Pop is STILL alive AND rocking! Just btw! Gotta say, Renton was honestly lucky Begbie didn’t kill Sick Boy and Spud out of suspicion or even just frustration Got to follow up the reboot of my #13 fav film of all time by seeing my #4 fav film of all time but for the first time in the cinema! Was the only person in the theater. Made me feel bad but I guess everyone can’t have my immaculate tastes. Did a bump of K during the trailers which may have been a BIT too on the nose lmfao I LOVE the way everybody uses their shoulders and hips in this film Very lucky I’ve seen the film so many times that I know all of the dialogue bc an American seeing this without subtitles for the first time would be FUCKED Do people really bike indoors in Scotland!? Watched at Warren Regal East Part 2 of 2 of Dylan’s Top-13-themed “Create-Your-Own-Double-Feature” Also someone yelled into my theater “Fuck my pussy!” (I assume bc the doors were open and I was in the theater nearest the exit). I was too high for that shit lol Featured in The Refined 25 (#4)

What can I say.. See it or see it again; Movies don't come any better than this.. The soundtrack is fantastic too.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life… But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin’ else.

Very visually appealing but feels empty and lacks depth beyond the pseudo-intellectual metaphors in certain scenes admist the hippie fest.

Without any moralization, this film is very anti-heroin. It presents a view of a lifestyle I'd never want to experience. Great performances all around.

A very honest film about drugs, super fun. Something disgusting but it’s part of the charm. We must feel disgusted about drugs. Good message.

Trippy trip scenes. Very imaginative. Also a spiral across all forms of self abuse. Some is hard to watch.

Not sure why it took me so long to watch this. Always heard great things and it didn’t disappoint. Most notably, Danny Boyle’s direction is really excellent. The visualization of everything here is really well done without going all psychedelic on the visuals. Honestly it was a bit weird watching this the same day I watched an episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, but it certainly showcases some of Ewan McGregor’s incredible range as an actor. Honestly, Ewan’s entire filmography has some wildly different roles. This certainly paints a very bleak picture of addiction and the immense difficulty of escaping that lifestyle, but I was really surprised at the sort of hopeful tone the film takes, particularly in it’s ending. So often do stories like this end in miserable tragedy, it’s refreshing here that that’s not the case. Really great watch. And obviously, the soundtrack is killer.

A lot of these images are now ingrained in my brain. I feel like showering is the only thing to do after watching this. What a fun place Scotland is eh?

One of those films that sticks with me even after years. The unflinching storytelling, the insane performances, and the relentlessly driving soundtrack push me through the film every time—in the best way possible. It’s the kind of movie that instantly transports me back to a specific time. Deservedly a cult classic. I love it and make a point of rewatching it every few years.
