The Truce
Diretto da Claude GuillemotArno, a Paris club owner, heads off early on Saturday with his girlfriend Laura for a day's fishing in the country, on the way to an out-of town, high-roller gambling game to which he has been invited on the Sunday. They run into an old rival, Julien and his girlfriend Fifine, who have similar plans. The fishing is quite unconventional but effective, as one uses electric charges and the other hand grenades. They are being trailed by a gangster Willy and two accomplices. There are various attempts by all parties to sabotage each others efforts. But Arno, Julien and girlfriends manage to enjoy some duck shooting, a leisurely meal of caneton aux cerises and a visit to a ghastly village dance. On reaching the location of the card game they discover Willy has got there first and robbed all the guests of their stakes. Arno and Julien surprise Willy and take back the money, returning it to the guests so that the game is not sabotaged, and settle down to win it legitimately. Willy meanwhile is dumped in a nearby stream.
