Il dottor Paul Steiner (Bryant Haliday) crea un’invenzione fantastica, un’apparecchiatura laser con la quale può trasformare in energia un corpo o un oggetto e poi riportarlo alla sua forma originaria, realizzando così una sorta di teletrasporto. Quando esibisce l’invenzione un sabotaggio ne provoca il malfunzionamento. Steiner e i suoi collaboratori pensano che ci sia di mezzo il direttore del laboratorio, Blanchard (Norman Wooland), che difatti intima a Steiner di andarsene. Esasperato, lo scienziato tenta su se stesso un’ultima volta l’esperimento, ma un guasto fa sì che ne esca ridotto a un mostro carico di energia.
