We are taken on a journey that has been carefully designed to make it's victims as uncomfortable as humany possible. The first time I watched The Menu, I was left with a lingering feeling that the film took itself a little too seriously, that it was a little too pretentious. Upon a second viewing and now see that was the entire point. Seeing a room full of "normal" people being shown to be the rot that drove Slowik to lose his passion is a beautiful thing to behold. Excellent performances accross the board with Taylor-Joy, Fiennes and Hoult being the standouts.

Ralph Fiennes masterfully portrays the chef's deep seated existential frustration a creative soul entirely burnt out by catering to elitist snobs who intellectualize food rather than enjoy it. The pivotal cheeseburger scene is a stroke of narrative genius; by serving Margot a simple, honest meal, it reignites the chef’s long lost passion. That pure, heartfelt connection is exactly why he ultimately grants her freedom.
- Nickyjames18 marzo 2025So I'm sitting here thinking about this movie months after watching it for the first time and I really think I love it just as much as I did watching it the first time. Colin Stetson and his score go a very long way to show just how far a good score can take a film. We've seen him do it before in hereditary and Color out of space. There's just a lot to this movie and it demands to be seen more than once. It's beautifully shot beautifully acted there's tons of depth to the characters and it is thematically rich. Pick and choose your themes between classism or adultery or fanaticism there's themes all over the place and throughout the movie.
