AND WHENEVER A CELEBRITY DIES I LIKE TO WATCH SOMETHING IN MENORY OF THEM RIP. THIS IS WHAT I KNOW GOING IN TO THE MOVIE. I GUESS SOMEBODY'S GOING TO DIE LIKE IN I . THIS MOVIE IS A BEST PICTURE AT THE OSCAR THE 1974 WINNER.

It becomes a character study of power: what it takes to gain it, hold it, and the cost of decisions made to win at any price while trying to keep your family intact. The filmmaking is meticulous. The detail in scenes, from New York to elsewhere, pulls you in and holds you there. The shifting timelines can disrupt the flow at times; a chronological structure might have made it easier to sink into. But the strength of individual scenes keeps drawing you back.
- Reuben29 giugno 2025Loved it when I was younger but now I think Vito Corleone's back story mostly holds the movie back and muddles the pacing. I would've liked just Michael's story, maybe with some flashbacks as neccessary to the story, but not as much. I think they knew they had no chance of topping the original and added two stories in one to make it appear more grander than they would if either story was shown on it's own. Vito's story would've worked really well as a TV mini series or something (I know: impossible for the times).
