Il più diretto rivale di Lady Sarah è l'ambizioso politico Robert Harley, che farebbe qualunque cosa pur di accaparrarsi i favori della regina. Ma non sarà lui a contendere a Lady Sarah il ruolo di Favorita: giunge infatti a corte Abigail Masham, lontana parente di Lady Sarah, molto più in basso nel sistema di caste inglese.

Smartly written, deliciously funny, colorful, well costumed, almost perfectly paced and terrific performances all around. What makes The Favorite distinct from other period pieces is it unique framing from the camera. Dramatic, wide panning and zooming give every shot an unmatched flair. Criminal to see this lost out on the Oscar for best set design AND costume. Olivia Colman put her whole queenussy into this role and earned the leading actress award. At least the academy got one thing right.

I thought this movie was going to be normal. I was surely mistaken. It’s 𝓯𝓻*𝓪𝓴𝔂, like all of his other movies. The lighting in this is crazy. It was a good idea to watch this at three in the morning in my basement.

- Rowan Krzysiak12 febbraio 2025Remove the period setting and the fact that the central relationship is a homosexual one and you essentially have an episode of 'Saved By The Bell' longed out over 2 hours. It really is truly awful and signals one dangerous consequence of TV becoming more cinematic in that TV fodder like this is also mistaken for cinema. The longer it goes on the shitter it gets but I'll give it some kudos for its random use of the word 'cunt' three times. Utter torture. Avoid.
