I thought this was just going to be punch line after punch line... it wasnt, it was way more great infact.

It's a high concept that could well have fallen into the cooky/quirky category but it ends up being a very balanced and even moving story. Give yourself up to the madness you'll eventually see a lot of sense as the movie plays out. It's like very little I've ever seen and it's highly recommended.

Bizarre, filthy, heartfelt and oddly uplifting. Sunlight is Nina Conti’s wild leap from ventriloquism to avant garde cinema, and it’s unforgettable.

I quite liked this film. It's directed by Nina Conti, whom I found on social media. She's an extremely good ventriloquist that puts puppet masks on audience members heads and moves their mouths mechanically as she does several voices for them. She puts them in extreme situations and the person with the mask then makes gestures with their hands to match the insanity coming from their mouths. It wasn't a surprise to see that she wore a full monkey costume with a monkey head and moving mouth. Her actual face does appear in the film, but maybe just for 5 minutes total. I found her character to be very charming and easy to fall for, which is good, because she practically kidnaps a guy and convinces him to drive her to Colorado, all the while wearing this monkey suit, which neither of them object to or even really mention. The other main character is played by the writer of the film, Shenoah Allen. I initially called him the Temu version of Jason Sudeikies with the voice of Paul Giamatti, one of the true greats of this century. Shenoah is quite engaging and we're along for the ride with these deeply troubled souls that are lost, but they somehow came together to save one another's lives. Even when life continues to shit on them and more bad things happen to them, you have to believe that these two are just going to get through it. Equally weird and heartwarming, these are some new voices in indie cinema that I look forward to seeing more of.

Pretty good movie, interesting and unique. It is a bit slow in spots but there is still development to the story or the characters.
