Star Trek
Diretto da Robert Wise- TotemSP23 marzo 2025It's long, and it feels longer, but when you're looking for some high concept science fiction to escape to for a couple of hours, there's nothing like taking a trip on the 'sorta' new enterprise, and getting lost in a... inexplicably large thing beyond your reckoning. Not the best Star Trek movie, but it's respectable.
- jack2760020 gennaio 2026Much maligned by critics and supposed fans, The Motion Picture is actually the most "Star Trek" film in the entire 13 film catalog. It has mystery, suspense, depth of feeling, and most importantly, it makes you think. The effects still hold up today thanks to Douglas Trumbull and John Dykstra. The music composed by Jerry Goldsmith is considered by many - myself included - as one of the greatest film scores ever produced. While not an action packed blockbuster, the film is brilliant in its subtleties. After not seeing the Trek cast on screen for a decade, the whole "get the band back together" feeling is emotional for any fan of the original series. Highly recommended.
- flavo4328 dicembre 2025Star Trek: The Motion Picture marks the franchise’s ambitious leap from television to cinema, reuniting the beloved original crew aboard a beautifully redesigned Enterprise. Visually, the film is stunning for its time, filled with sweeping effects and a sense of cosmic scale that clearly aimed to elevate the series into grander territory. However, the story—while intriguingly alien in concept—struggles under its own weight. Its ideas are vast, almost abstract, but the execution feels slow and ultimately fizzles out rather than building to a satisfying payoff. There are glimpses of compelling themes and potential storylines, yet they never fully coalesce into something emotionally gripping. The cast remains stellar, grounding the film with familiar warmth and presence, but even they can’t overcome the pacing and tonal imbalance. In the end, this cinematic debut feels overshadowed by its far stronger sequel, The Wrath of Khan.
- Vincent Reggiannini22 settembre 2025This movie is the perfect example of what separates Star Trek from Star Wars. Star Wars is science-fantasy and much faster paced while the true Star Trek is more cerebral, methodical and always having a higher meaning to its narrative. The opening scene lends a certain anachronistic charm to the practical hand-built model ships that the camera lovingly swoops up to and around.. The music and special effects of the time bring a grand scale and awe-inspiring reality to everything. The sweeping views of the Enterprise being dwarfed by this vast energy cloud are the highlight of the film. On the big screen this must have been majestic, but I was too young to realize that when the movie was released. This is a movie for Star Trek fans who, like me, are willing to put aside a few minor quibbles to enjoy the stories presented to us.

XXIII secolo.
