There are good Star Trek movies, there are bad Star Trek movies. Then there's First Contact, the first Star Trek movie that doesn't fuck around.

Not a bad movie. Just not my bag. Lighting, some effects and some set dressing felt very television. Would like a darker vibe.

It's one of my favorites, and sometimes the random music in my head will include the soundtrack from this movie on its playlist. It might be a nostalgia thing for me, but the plot was pretty compelling too. Great movie and easily the best of the TNG films, with it making my top 3 of the Trek films in general (alongside Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country). A and B plots that combine well at the end, great horror/zombie vibes with the redesigned Borg, a fun expansion of Trek lore with the first warp flight plus meeting the Vulcans, incredible scenes with Stewart and Woodard playing off each other, and — of course — incredible score by the legend Jerry Goldsmith. All that said, is it a perfect movie? Definitely not. The Borg Queen was acted very well by Alice Krige and I love her in this movie, but unfortunately took away some of the creepiness of the Borg in the long term. I do think it's appropriate that Picard himself lead the fight against the Borg here, but it unfortunately created Stewart's obsession with action hero Picard in the following two flicks. But that said, alongside TVH and ST09, it's the Trek movie I show non-fans if they're at all interested in the franchise.

Not a fan of Time Travel movies but it works here, and this and the Voyage home are the best of the Star Trek films.

I was 10 when this originally came out, didn’t get to see it in the theater, but I did see it a year or maybe 2 later. I loved the action, love the new ship and seeing the crew. Fast-forward to now, first time I’ve rewatched in several years. First thing I noticed was the soundtrack really knocked it out of the park, and one can really pickup on the bonds & fellowship the crew developed from TNG & Generations. Going from order of TNG -> Generations -> First Contact really made me see Jean-Luc’s character in a different light, the internal turmoil over the Borg. Some of the things that I felt differently about now as an adult versus as a child when I saw it originally, was the Dixon Hill holograph deck made me smile thinking of how our dear captain would use that series to relax, was now the place where he felt he was in control enough to stop some Borg. As a big fan of present day space achievements, when he showed Earth from the first time out of the window, its so easy to imagine how that could’ve felt to be in Lily’s shoes. This is one of my favorites, seeing the dream team in their peak performance and facing the Federations most true opponent that cannot be reasoned with all while entangling concepts that we can still feel today.

Best Star Trek movie made. I love this storytime. Well done. Of course, the time travel bit was a little weak, but other than that, a great movie.

I had to watch this film for "First Contact Day." The fact that I know it's "First Contact Day" reveals my Star Trek bias, and of course, I enjoyed it. What makes this film special is that they brought the pacing and chemistry from the TV show.

The best of the 4 TNG movies. Here, the Borg are fully realized as Star Trek's most iconic villains while Alice Krige is perfectly cast as the Borg Queen. This is the adventure TNG fans dreamed of when it was announced they were headed to the big screen.
