Pretty entertaining throughout. It's like watching a car wreck, you can't look away, you know it's disastrous but you just can't pull yourself away from it. Acting was superb.

The direction is elegant yet grotesque, but above all, it delights in showing just how ridiculous an aristocracy is when it clings to appearances while sinking into debt. Everyone’s manners are impeccable, of course—for one might be bankrupt, but never without a healthy dose of hypocrisy. It is a scathing satire of nobles brimming with titles, debts, and self-importance. There are characters who are just the right amount of odious, dark humor, and a party where the one thing in plentiful supply is the desire to appear better than one actually is. An elegant takedown of high society: the more they insist on keeping up appearances, the more wretched they look.

Entertaining comedy. Richard E Grant at his best playing this role.
