Diretto da Alfred HitchcockBrandon Shaw e Phillip Morgan, due giovani studenti, uccidono il loro amico David Kentley, strangolandolo con una corda, e ne nascondono il corpo in un baule antico sul quale imbandiscono la tavola per un party. Inizia una singolare festa, a cui sono chiamati a partecipare anche il padre del ragazzo ucciso e la sua ragazza Janet Walker, che in precedenza aveva avuto una relazione con Brandon.

It has everything: arrogant antagonists, persistent protagonist, incredible atmosphere, suspenseful music, all bottled into one location. They truly don't make movies like this anymore!

The camerawork is extremely ambitious for the time with the whole movie being multiple long continuous shots, which ironically has become a staple in modern action movies. The acting and dialogue is excellent, premise is disturbing, and the pay off is great.
