Red Rooms Ratings e Recensioni
- Spanktacular20 aprile 2025Incredible, disturbing, cruel, and bloodless (all things considered).
- gnrrain3 marzo 2026Great psychological horror. Simple as that. Not a lot of visuals to feast on, but if you pay attention, the story is engaging and is very well done. Your imagination will carry this one for you. Worth watching once - not sure how it will hold up to repeat watches.
- adam319919 ottobre 2025Everyone is talking about a slow build up of dread and tension. I thought was pretty lame and predictable
- springer6667 settembre 2025Gives a whole new meaning to the expression “let’s paint the town red.” From now on, I’ll say, “let’s paint the town brown.”
- Kevin Ward1 luglio 2025Absolutely loved this tenebrous little psychological thriller that feeds off our true crime obsessed culture. Feels like a David Fincher flick in a lot of respects. Director Pascal Plante has certainly caught my attention. Long takes and slow methodical camera movements heighten ever-present feeling of dread. Juliette Gariépy is mesmerizing as Kelly-Anne who’s been obsessively following a high profile trial regarding the absolutely gruesome murders of two teenage girls. Truly riveting cinema and had me wanting to immediately watch it again. Highly recommend if you get a chance to see it.
- cultfilmliker30 maggio 2025Everyone’s got their thing! After checking the quantity and average of my friends’ ratings of this film on here, I have no idea how I let it pass me by (until now) Wonderful acting from the leads. What a screenplay. The keys ruining the shot during the security screen really messed me up mentally lmao Some untranslated visual stuff when watching this on AMC+ on Prime. Hope I didn’t miss anything too important! …what, you don’t wanna watch the snuff videos on the big screen?? “Lady of Shallot” allegory blew my mind. Any further information / connections re: “Guinevere” will immediately bump this up to five stars. - Amr Zalat8 marzo 2025Total waste of time
- rg940027 gennaio 2025Red Rooms hits you in the face as soon as it begins, a thunderous score accompanied by a tracking shot following our protagonist Kelly-Anne as she walks across this blue-tinted early morning into a whitewashed courtroom. From that opening, I could tell this was going to be an intense movie. This movie keeps you on your toes. A dark premise that wiggles itself into your head in the same way Kelly-Anne's morbid curiosity starts taking hold of her life. It starts out as a courtroom drama, but it morphs itself as it goes on, bringing in elements of a softer friendship movie, a techno-thriller a la Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and almost a surrealist true crime drama like True Detective. Throughout, the movie develops a distinctive style, punctuated by moments of deafening soundtrack and constantly utilizing framing as the camera tracks its focus, zooming in and out to highlight the subtle nonverbal movements that often are the only real clues into its characters motivations. To be honest, I never truly understood what the movie wanted to be about. As it shifted between genres, I myself constantly tried to understand where it was headed or what was pushing Kelly-Anne down this rabbit hole. As the movie neared its endtime, I could confidently say I was disturbed despite there being very little onscreen horror, the movie using audio and the focus on reactions to convey enough of the messed up events. However, with its bold ending, I was left wondering what the message or point of the movie was, its ending feeling as confusing as it did unique. I'm not entirely sure what to take away from it, but I can say that it will certainly hold you captive throughout its runtime if you can stomach what it is about, and that's no small feat.
- Michael Heimgartner28 febbraio 2025I really wanted to love Red Rooms. The opening courtroom sequences are gripping, making me believe I was about to witness a high-stakes legal thriller. But then, the film takes an unexpected turn, one that left me feeling somewhat disconnected. Don’t get me wrong—this film looks fantastic. The cinematography is moody and stylish, the sound design is immersive, and the set design perfectly captures the cold, unsettling atmosphere. But there’s something missing. The protagonist’s motivations remain murky, and the narrative never fully justifies its lengthy runtime. By the final act, I found myself more fatigued than engaged. Maybe it’s just a matter of expectations—if you go in prepared for its slow, methodical unraveling, you might have a different experience. But for me, while Red Rooms has undeniable technical strengths, it ultimately didn’t live up to the hype.
