Diretto da Stan WinstonEd Harley vive tranquillo e spensierato assieme al suo piccolo figlio Billy in uno sperduto e deserto paesino dell’america rurale. I due gestiscono una malandata stazione di servizio che possa fungere come centro di ristoro per tutti i viandanti che, di tanto in tanto, passano di lì. Una mattina, poco dopo l’orario di apertura, giungono sul posto alcuni ragazzi intenzionati a passare un indimenticabile vacanza dilettandosi nel motocross. L’arrivo di quell’esiguo gruppo di ragazzi rappresenterà per il povero Ed l’inizio della fine: il piccolo Billy, infatti, sarà coinvolto in un incidente mortale causato da una moto. Ed Harley, accecato dalla rabbia e dalla disperazione per aver perso l’amato figlio, fa ricorso ad una vecchia signora, che in paese si dice sia una strega, per ottenere vendetta. La vecchia megera risveglierà, per desiderio di Ed, il Pumpkinhead, un mostruoso demone che si metterà immediatamente sulle tracce dei ragazzi per attuare una sanguinosa vendetta.

- Kevin Ward4 novembre 2025Probably like it more out of nostalgia than anything else, but Pumpkinhead still scratches that ‘80s horror itch. The monster effects are fantastic, Stan Winston’s creature design is goated and the backwoods atmosphere gives it that campfire-tale vibe. The story’s a little thin and the pacing drags in spots, but Lance Henriksen’s grief-stricken performance holds it together. It’s grim, weirdly sad, and totally of its era. Great pick and a fun revisit.
