Harlem. Precious é una ragazza di appena diciassette anni ma é già alla sua seconda maternità (entrambe dovute alle violenze subite dal padre). La sua situazione é terribile, é analfabeta, é obesa, la madre non la difende, anzi, l'accusa del comportamento del padre. L'unica via d'uscita per lei, é quella di accettare l'offerta di frequentare una scuola speciale, che le permetta di elevarsi dal mondo di ignoranza in cui si trova suo malgrado. Nonostante l'opposizione della madre, Precious, decide di iscriversi alla scuola e di tenere il bambino, e, contro tutte le difficoltà, inizierà la strada che potrà portarla al suo riscatto sociale...

This is a good movie but I can honestly say I couldn't think of sadder circumstances to put together than what they portrayed in this movie. It puts it into context even further when you look at the time period this movie is set in. This movie is worth all 5 stars I gave it, and more.
