Wisecracking showgirl Maisie Ravier finds herself trapped in a Wyoming town when her new employer closes the show prematurely. She meets ranch foreman Charles "Slim" Martin when he accuses her of lifting his wallet and ends up being hired as a maid for ranch owners Cliff and Sybil, who are attempting to mend their rocky marriage after Sybil's infidelity with a cowboy.

    “Maisie” stars Ann Sothern, who plays a brassy Brooklyn showgirl and carries the film with her gift for turning a one-liner into a moment of revelation rather than just a punchline. There’s a moral through-line about decency and perseverance that feels earned. Sothern built a character so vivid and alive that audiences and the studio found her worth revisiting again and again.
