The alien tech is still glitchy, the jokes still fly and the stakes are technically higher. But the budget’s tighter, the cast’s thinner and the pacing feels like it’s chasing its own tail. Burnie Burns and Gavin Free return, but Michael Jones is MIA and the chemistry takes a hit. The plot leans harder into sci-fi mystery, with less of the chaotic team dynamic that made the first one pop. There’s still fun to be had, laser fights, awkward heroics and a few solid gags, but it feels more like a web series finale than a full-blown sequel. Streaming it felt like checking in on old friends who’ve been through budget cuts and rewrites. It’s not bad, just smaller, quieter and less punchy. Still, for fans of the first, it’s worth the ride. Lazer Team 2 is a sequel that tries to evolve but loses some of the original’s goofy charm. I streamed it, I logged it and I still think the suit deserves a third outing.
