- YoursTrulyYoshi4 aprile 2026Alr all those people saying this is boring, and the jumpscares were cheap............ Tf did y'all watch? This has to be the best horror movie I've seen in like a decade, and the first couple jumpscares to actually get me in just about as long. If you approach it with the correct mindset, aka *watching a movie*, there's no way in hell this won't capture your attention and intrigue from the first frame. You learn about the story, the mystery, the twists and turns, how could you not be absolutely gripped? Me and my friend, but especially me, expected next to nothing from this. By the end, goddamn, WHAT a movie. My only gripe? Oh, how I wish it were longer. Bottom line? If you approach it sincerely with the intention of watching a movie, you're gonna love it. If you were feeling edgy and googled "top 10 scariest movies that are banned in Myanmar" or smn, you're probably gonna be disappointed. Spoiler Zone There is a single jumpscare lol. Tho absolutely earned, perfectly built up. Gosh, it got me. Also, I've seen some people pointing out similarities between this and Twin Peaks. I gotta say I picked up on those as well, so there has to be some truth to it, however, -and I know some people are gonna hate me for saying this-, but I truly believe this is Twin Peaks DONE PROPERLY. Let me elaborate; I decided to watch Twin Peaks because I recently played Silent Hill 2 for the first time ever (I played the Remake), and I kinda feel it has become my favorite game. That thing is HORROR front and center, dude. Well, after a while I learned the developers got some inspiration from Twin Peaks. To make a long story short, I dropped it after the first season because I really wasn't liking where it was going. So, if this is, on principle, a new take on the Twin Peaks formula, then I'll have this flavor 37 times before I give Twin Peaks another chance. TLDR; Twin Peaks zzz Lake Mungo 37/10 will watch again.
- Daniel Gustavsson11 ottobre 2024The most boring movie I've ever seen. A cheap "documentary" where everything is explained through "interviews". Don't watch it.
- buford fernsby15 aprile 2025this movie sucks and i hate every woman that told me it was good.

- cat_pack27 dicembre 2025I absolutely love this movie. It's so well done, the atmosphere and general vibes. They're multiple twists that keep you guessing till the end
- Murderdronesenjoyer31 luglio 2025Actually pretty good 👍
- Allie Tran1 agosto 2025I feel like an outlier for saying this but I was kind of bored watching this. Pretty creepy though.
- Timeless Cinema17 marzo 2026An intriguing drama that burns a little too slow, but delivers some creepy moments and an interesting mystery.
- Spoons1 marzo 2025Lake Mungo is a slow-burning story that burrows under your skin. The cast’s uneasy performances make every interview feel real. As new discoveries unfold, the film masterfully shifts perspective, keeping you unsteady. A cult classic for a reason—haunting, layered, unforgettable.
- Cherryflix11 gennaio 2026This movie is dreadful. As in, it fills me with dread. I’ve watched it twice, years apart, and I’m always left with this feeling of sadness. The ending just fucks me up for some reason. It’s a slow burn, and never really amps up too much, which is a good thing imo. It’s understated and I think that’s what makes it shine. Watch this.
- adam31991 gennaio 2026This film is entirely made of interviews with the family and friends of the drwned girl. It has lame effects and plods tiredly through predictable plot lines and culminates in found mobile phone offotage. One of the dumbest things I have ever seen
- James Saenz15 ottobre 2025what if we made a film heavily inspired by twin peaks, but it’s a found footage film instead? and what if instead of laura palmer, we change her name to alice palmer and give most of the people in her life similar roles and motivations to different characters from the show?? and what if we ramped up the tension and dread as the scene leads up to a zoom-in freeze-frame of a grainy shot where you can barley make out a figure or face, and do that over and over and over and over and over again??? oh and what if we even make that the final shot of the film too before we cut to black???? god, end my suffering now. the film is at its strongest when it explores how the different people in alice’s life navigate their grief. it’s at its weakest everywhere else. documentary-style found footage films are difficult to pull off, and despite the intriguing premise it just felt like a constant struggle for the movie to keep my attention or my emotional investment. by the sixth zoom-in on a grainy frame of alice set to a bellowing ambient soundtrack both my eyes and my mind were glazing over with ambivalence. fear and grief go hand in hand, and yet they both feel so separate here despite both being prominent themes of the film. everything about the filmmaking, from the cinematography to the sound design, wants to elicit fear from the audience, but the characters never express that; they only ever exhibit grief and a curiosity of the supernatural events that transpire. alice is the only character who truly feels like she experiences both fear and grief in large part to her prescient knowledge of her untimely demise, but the film fails to give her a real sense of characterization, a complete failure in character development when compared to her direct inspiration in laura palmer. the real fear in the film hinges upon her desperately reaching out for attention, to be seen by her family in life and in death, and ultimately still being left behind, being left unseen. that’s an existential nightmare and it’s the crux of the film’s emotion and horror, but it completely falls apart when alice is ultimately an npc without any real defining characteristics or personality. if i wanted to experience art that explored how a victim had to endure the horrors of life and death, humanized her with tact and reverence, displayed how a community grieved, and followed the ensuing investigation that attempts to unravel the mysterious circumstances of her death, i would just watch twin peaks.

- gnrrain13 novembre 2025A lot of people put this high on "Top 'x'" lists. It was ok. Decent twists. Camera work drives me crazy. Not a big fan of found footage to begin with so that's probably a big part of why I didn't find this better than others. It's a good story. Not great.
