Tony Stark è Iron Man e ora, dopo 6 mesi, che la notizia è di pubblico dominio il governo e le compagnie concorrenti, non troppo liete che la pace nel mondo sia mantenuta da un deterrente che non gli appartiene, tentano di appropriarsi dell'armatura: "Ho privatizzato con successo la pace" risponde Stark a chi lo accusa di essere fuori dal controllo statale. Non è tuttavia questo il problema più grosso del miliardario con l'hobby del supereroismo. Il palladio, elemento utile a far funzionare l'armatura, lo sta lentamente uccidendo inquinandogli il sangue e il brillante inventore non riesce a trovare un rimedio. Come se non bastasse, nel mezzo di una corsa automobolistica promozionale, a turbare la pace mondiale si presenta Ivan Vanko, figlio di un vecchio collaboratore di Howard Stark (il padre di Tony), colmo di rancore, volontà di vendetta e in possesso dei brevetti originali di molte invenzioni della Stark.

- Flips20 agosto 2026While overall a little weaker on plot and pacing than the first one, it still sports tons of enjoyable dialogue, well paced action scenes, and feels like the first true opening up into the wider MCU with the introduction of Black Widow, Howard Stark and War Machine. The Elon Musk cameo is a wonderful reminder that not everything was okay in 2010, but makes for a refreshing cringe in the middle of an otherwise great movie.

Robert Downey Jr. once again proves he was genetically engineered to play Tony Stark, navigating the character’s ego and vulnerability with a charisma that anchors the entire film. He makes even the quieter moments feel electric, reminding us why he became the face of the MCU. The real secret weapon here, however, is the villains. While critics were mixed at the time, Sam Rockwell is undeniably brilliant as Justin Hammer, playing the "anti-Tony Stark" with a desperate, hilarious smarminess that steals every scene he is in. Paired with Mickey Rourke’s physically imposing and eccentric Whiplash, you get a dynamic duo that brings a unique flavor to the franchise. Throw in some visually stunning suit-up sequences—like the iconic briefcase armor—and you have a movie that prioritizes fun and spectacle over everything else. It is a wild, entertaining ride that deserves way more love than it gets.

Rhodey and Black Widow were great additions, and I enjoyed seeing the MCU slowly become more connected. Whiplash was alright, although I felt he could’ve been developed a bit more. A fun sequel that keeps the story moving. 8/10

- Zokkiie18 maggio 2026This movie feels like Tony Stark running on pure ego for two hours, and honestly that’s what makes a lot of it fun. RDJ is still effortlessly entertaining, the banter is great, and the suit scenes are awesome whenever the movie slows down enough to focus on them. There’s also way more humor in this one, which works sometimes and feels a bit too much other times. The biggest issue is definitely the villain. Whiplash looks intimidating at first, but the movie never really does anything interesting with him after the opening scenes. By the end he’s just kinda there existing in the background. The story also feels all over the place at times, like it can’t decide what it wants to focus on. Still a fun watch though, even if it’s way weaker than the first Iron Man.
